The Ebb and Flow of Change

Updated: Jul 28, 2020

As we try to achieve balance in our life, we find that the target seems to constantly move. Change in life is inevitable. The most difficult aspect is that we often cannot control it.

Instead of approaching balance as a fixed idea or list of things to do, we must approach balance as a long-term goal. Sometimes things will equally balance, but more importantly can we look across time to see that we have maintained a flow in life that allows us peace and happiness with our priorities. How do we handle balance when it’s integrated with change?

First, accept that your idea of balance will constantly evolve. Remember, you are the only one who can define the what, if, who, and when of your life.

Second, your priority list is personal and can only be defined by you. Slow and steady always wins the race. Everything today is not healthy if you’re unable to remain upright.

Lastly, manage your time, don't allow time to manage you. Use a scheduler intentionally to make time for other people and yourself as well as accomplishments. Schedule your 5-minute meditation, walk, chat with a friend.

You may not be able to do everything today, but over time can accomplish much.

Certainly, life is written in chapters, each with its own purpose.
