What do you think of when you think of a Free Spirit? I usually think of running through wildflowers, walking bare foot in the meadow, and ultimately no worries in the world. Sounds great to me!
For a girl who lives by the motto of plan the work, work the plan or perish trying, the idea of a free spirit is a long way from home. Although it sounds good, I do not usually know how to find that space. There are lists to accomplish, aren’t there?
Thinking about finding that path, it seems the best way to start is to set down the list even for a few hours and be present. Maybe walking in the grass barefoot is a good start, drinking your coffee outside and listening to the sounds of the birds, or truly experiencing the breeze blowing through your hair.
A second part of finding your free spirit, I think, comes from letting go of the plan. It is extremely difficult to give up control of this especially if you are a planner.
Letting go of the plan, just a little though, can really allow for endless opportunities to experience the unexpected which adds to the joy of freely experiencing every moment.
These seem like small things, but setting your spirit free means giving it a break from the everyday work and worry that comes in the adult world.
